Vanessa 1967 RHD

" We believe this was one of the last 200 split screen busses ever built at Wolfsburg and it may be the newest surviving example."

£55,000

Finished in Sea blue over Pearl white
The engine is the original 1500 engine as is the gearbox and reduction boxes.
This vehicle benefits from the factory option M183 which is walk through cab which is very rare indeed.

We believe this was one of the last 200 split screen busses ever built at Wolfsburg and it may be the newest surviving example.

On arrival in The UK it was converted to a Torvette Camper by JP White of Sidmouth and the vehicle still has  this complete conversion including the Easicol fridge, Gas hob and Formica table.

The vehicle underwent  a bare metal respray  and minimal bodywork refurbishment by Dave Catchpole and his team at Westcoast VW  (formerly VW Classic) in 2011 and has been owned by me through and since this work.

The vehicle was incredibly sound so minimal bodywork was required apart from replacement of the roof  and there is  a full photographic history of this work. The headlining was replaced as part of this works and a hobby battery installed together with an overhaul of the electrics.
The engine was rebuilt by Laurie Pettit of Berwickshire - The guru of VW engines. The brake system was renewed  and steering overhauled. The reduction box bearing have been renewed  and the gearbox seal renewed, no work was needed on the gearbox.

The Torvette interior was refurbished and refitted even the foam was reused, but the cover was renewed. The trim panels was renewed but the original panels  have been retained.
This vehicle was and (is) my passion.

" It has been restored to the exact factory specification with the exception of adding Seeblau over the original Pearweise,"

fitting electronic points to the distributor and fitting laminated glass to the front windows. I honestly believe this is the finest original  example of the split screen camper available.

All work is fully documented and there is a file of receipts totalling over £20,000

Reason for sale ?
We have driven less than 500 miles in 2 years. Vanessa (her name) is not to be stored but to be used. I want her to go to a good home where her adventures can continue.
